20 arrested for flouting COVID-19 SOPs in Rukungiri as DPC Tibakirana assumes office

RUKUNGIRI– The Police in Rukungiri have arrested 20 people, impounded two motorcycles and three vehicles for allegedly flouting guidelines curfew guidelines.

The Office Incharge of operations at Rukungiri Central Police station ASP. Walubo Benon confided to our reporter that the public has relaxed curfew guidelines and went ahead to transact business as usual.

ASP. Walubo added that the operation was aimed at reminding the community that Covid-19 guidelines still exist stressing that they will be produced to court on Thursday.

He added that the Police will continue to ensure that covid-19 guidelines are adhered to in regard that boda bodas must end operations at 6pm, general public movement and business to stop at 7pm, with the exception of journalists and health workers.

In the same regard, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will on Wednesday address the nation on the current status of the Country’s covid-19.

Slated for 8pm, the Presidential address will give an update on the country’s fight against the Novel virus and related issues.
