Woman injured in a scuffle with a thief.

One person is in police custody at Railway Police station in Kasese town on suspicion of breaking into a house of a 36 –year-old woman in Kikonzo cell and subsequently injuring her.

Esther Buhaka was attacked at 3:00am by one of the residents whose names have not been disclosed to the press for fear of jeopardizing the investigations.

Aggrey Kapere, the Officer in-charge of Railway Police Station confirmed the incident and said the police are handling the matter.

The victim told our reporter that when she woke up from sleep, she saw someone having broken into the house and immediately demanded for money from her.  During the scuffle, the suspect injured Buhaka before running away with over shillings 200,000 and a mobile phone among others.

Jimmy Bwambale Kamusithu, the Councilor representing Railway ward to the Central Division, regretted the incident and said cases of theft are now on an increase in the area.

He has since promised to work closely with police to intensify night patrols.
