The Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament has suggested to government to tackle the problem of flood disasters right away from the source of rivers in the Rwenzori Mountains National Park.

Florence Kabugho says technocrats need to visit the source of rivers and critically observe and understand the problem in detail in a bid to come up with an everlasting solution.

Kabugho sounded the remarks yesterday afternoon while addressing the press shortly after a field tour with the third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio, Rukia Nakadama in River Lhubiriha Valley to assess the level damage caused by the floods in May 2020.

Kabugho said the visit of the government Ministers should be used as an opportunity to find an everlasting solution to the flood disasters.

She however appealed to the elected leaders in Kasese district to work together as a team so as to press government to fulfill its pledges towards eradicating a number of challenges in the district.

In a separate interview with the State Minister of ICT in-charge of National Guidance, Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga Kime, who was among the team that toured Nyamwamba River Valley, said during the exercise, they observed that the issue of floods from River Nyamwamba will still remain a challenge until government identifies a potential investor to revamp Kilembe Mines Limited.
