The Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party leadership in Kasese district has temporally halted its normal operations and closed the office as a measure to curtail the spread of Covid-19.
The suspension of normal operations and closure of the office was officially communicated to the press on Thursday 17.06.2021 morning by the District FDC party Chairperson, Saulo Maate.
According to Maate, they received a communication from the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi to have the offices closed in a bid to restrict some party members from congregating in large and hence contravene the standard operating procedures issued by the Ministry of Health to forestall the spread of the deadly Covid-19.
Maate, however, appealed to the party leaders at all levels to go to the community and sensitize the people to follow all the Ministry of Health Guidelines including hand sanitizing, wearing face masks, keeping a distance and avoiding shaking hands among others.
The outspoken FDC Boss used the same platform to defend the Members of Parliament from Kasese district on his party ticket for declining to attend yesterday’s function in which President Museveni and his Congolese counterpart Felix Tshisekedi were officiating at the ground breaking ceremony of the Mpondwe Bridge and the construction of road networks connecting the two countries.
