Kasese district Covid-19 Task Force lays strategies in preparing for the third wave.

Kasese district Covid-19 Task Force has laid down strategies in preparing for the third wave after the district received the Covid response fund worth shillings 475 Million.

The Ministry of Local Government in partnership with the Ministry of Finance has disbursed over shillings 475 million to Kasese District Local Government and another shillings 123million to Kasese Municipal Council to help in the fight against Covid- 19.

The said money was disclosed today during a District Covid- Taskforce meeting that was held at the RDC’s office in Kasese town. During the meeting, the members also approved a supplementary budget for Kasese District Local Government and Kasese Municipal Council.

Addressing the press shortly  after the meeting, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner, Lt Joe Walusimbi, who also doubles as Taskforce Chairperson, said over shillings 395 will go to the sub-counties and Town Councils while over shillings 80 million will be used to facilitate the members of the Taskforce to carry out implementation of the planned activities.

According to the RDC, the five Village Health Team-VHT members have been allocated money to facilitate their activities.

He appealed to the selected members to use the money for the purpose for which it was meant.

The Kasese District Chief Administrative Officer, Amis Masereka Asuman explained that the money was allocated to the sub-counties depending on the sizes, population and the number of health facilities in a particular area.
