High court has set October 25, 2021 as the date in which it will deliver a judgment of a petition filed by Jackson Mbaju Kathika

High court sitting today in Fort-portal has set October 25, 2021 as the date in which it will deliver a judgment of a petition filed by Jackson Mbaju Kathika challenging the election of Gideon Thembo Mujungu as the duly elected Member of Parliament for Busongora South Constituency.

Court presided over by Hon. Lady Justice Victorious Katamba reached the decision after spending two days of cross examining witnesses from the complainant, Jackson Mbaju Kathika, the first respondent, Gideon Thembo Mujungu and second respondent, the Electoral Commission.

Justice Katamba however said on September 03, 2021, the petitioner, Jackson Mbaju Kathika and his Lawyers will submit in their file and serve the respondents while on September 17, 2021, the respondents including Gideon Thembo Mujungu, his Lawyers and the Electoral Commission will submit in their responses to be added on to the file.

On September 24, 2021, the petitioner and his Lawyers will then submit in their rejoinders if any before High Court delivers the final judgment on October 25, 2021 at 12pm.

Speaking to the press immediately after the court session, Mujungu called upon his supporters to maintain peace and unity as they wait for the final day in which the judgment will be read.

On his part, Kathika said he was hopeful that Court would offer justice to the aggrieved parties.
