Youth in rwenzori region embark on promoting tourism through sports

The youth in Kasese district have committed themselves to support the tourism development in the area.
A section of young people from Busongora County South has organised a local community event code named BABOON TOURISM FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT aimed at engaging the young people through football as a one way for them to promote and attract investment in the Rwenzori domestic tourism.
The Tournament will  commence on 5th February 2022 with an opening match at Kinyateke play grounds in Kahokya Sub County and is expected to end with Finals on 27th February at Kigoro Primary School grounds in Rukoki Sub County.
Baboon Tourism Football Tournament, the locally organised event is also expected to enhance participation in cooperation with the concerned ministries and local government agencies, youth organizations in the development and adoption of departmental programs, providing support for initiatives, aimed at youth, tourism and the development of cooperation with local Communities.
According to Mr. Kameli Zephaniah Bwambale, the Tournament Commissioner and one of the brains behind the initiative, the young people in Rwenzori are committed to Contributing to a better world they want to live in, and supporting tourism is one of the sectors that will transform Uganda.
While domestic and regional tourism is the first focus as COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease, after so much time without travel, and with a new perspective following such a dramatic global event, the time has come to rejuvenate the tourism of Rwenzori sub region through local initiatives and new tourism products.
