Youths ask government to expedite the hearing process of the case slapped to Omusinga and royal guards

By Basighalha Zalimon (Goodluck)

A section of the youths who turned up on Thursday at Buhikira Royal Hill to participate in the tree planting exercise have asked government to consider expediting the hearing process of some cases that were slapped on Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma and the Royal Guards that he was arrested with.

On November 26th and 27th, 2016, a joint security team of the army and police attacked the Buhikira Royal Police in Kasese town leaving scores of people dead and the subsequent arrest of the King and a section of his Royal Guards.

Yesterday, the cultural institution led by the Prime Minister carried out a tree planting exercise a head of the 55th coronation anniversary of the Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma that falls annually on October 19.

Misairi Thembo Kahungu, a Senior Journalist and resident in Kasese district who participated in the exercise said he was missing the jubilations and the big crowds that used to characterize the past coronation ceremonies before the King was arrested.

He therefore appealed to the government to kindly release the Rwenzururu King so that he attends the subsequent functions.

Kahungu donated spades and a watering can to aid the tree planting exercise.

Roset Biira Sebayanda, a resident of Busongora County North also agreed with Kahungu, describing the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu as an identity of the people living on the Rwenzori Mountains regardless of their tribal and political party affiliations.

She appealed to the Rwenzururu subjects to remain calm and peaceful as well as living in harmony as they wait for the government to expedite the process of hearing cases that were slapped against the King.

Adam Bwambale, the District Councilor representing the Central Division, described the exercise as a unifying factor of all the people from the different political parties and a move aimed at saving the snows on the Rwenzori Mountains from receding.

Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, a Political analyst in Kasese district who was among the participants described the exercise as a tool for peaceful co-existence, development oriented and non political.
