Two arrested in Kasese for illegal power connections.

By our reporter

Police in Kasese are holding two people for allegedly carrying out illegal power connections. The suspects are Job Mutegeki and Steward Nyesiga.

According to Jophes Muhindo the manager UMEME Kasese branch, the duo was arrested in an operation carried out in Base camp lower cell of Central Division of Kasese Municipality.

Muhindo says the two suspects were nabbed making a direct power connection for an infrastructure that did not have a meter.

Muhindo said they acted swiftly to arrest the duo after they got a tip from the area chairperson Jaffari Kigutiya that suspicious persons were executing a power connection in the area.

ASP Nelson Tumushime, the police mouthpiece for Rwenzori East Region says investigations were near completion and the two suspects would be taken to court so soon.
