There is need for government to avail mama kits at health centres.

Concerned citizens in Kasese district have appealed to the legislators to table before the floor of parliament the issue of equipping health facilities with mama kits.

Medius Matunda, a resident of Kitholhu sub-county, says much as government has constructed health facilities in most parts of the country but they are still lacking enough health services especially in the maternal health department.

Matunda adds that some members of parliament hailing from Kasese together with Non Governmental Organizations have tried to bridge the gap of transport means by procuring ambulances with the latest being a new brand fully equipped ambulance donated today by Florence Kabugho, the Kasese District Woman MP.

Others who have procured ambulances to the electorate include Kasese Municipality MP, Ferigo Kambale and the Busongora North MP, Sowedi Kitanywa but Messiah Radio is yet to know the plans the Busongora County South MP, Gideon Thembo Mujungu, is having for his electorate about the same.

Despite such donations, Matunda however sends a message to the Ministry of Health through the elected members of parliament to continue equipping the health centres with mama kits and drugs.

Bernadette Businge, the Democratic Party – DP Deputy Secretary General for the Women’s League calls on Kasese District Local Government to devise mechanisms of repairing grounded ambulances at various health centres a cross the district.

She also sends a message to the members of parliament not to withdraw the donated ambulances after losing an election.

Florence Kabugho, the Kasese District Woman MP says she was forced to buy an ambulance in addition to the already available ones following the demand by the expectant mothers who pass through hardships during the process of delivery.

Kabugho reveals that soonest she will procure and deliver stretchers to be used by the people living in mountainous areas where there is poor road network.
