Suspected thief admitted at Kilembe Hospital after being beaten by angry mob in Kasese

By Rwenzori Daily Reporter

A suspected thief is currently nursing serious injuries at Kilembe Mines Hospital in Kasese town that he sustained after being beaten by an angry mob in Saluti B cell of Kanyangeya Ward in Nyamwamba Division of Kasese Municipality.

The victim, who has not been identified, met his fate last evening when he grabbed a hand bag containing shillings 7,000 from a woman who was on her way to her home.

A reliable police officer who preferred anonymity told our reporter on Sunday afternoon that after getting information about the incident, police immediately swung into action and rescued the victim, who was bleeding by then and transported him to Kilembe Mines Hospital for medication.

Pimako Kasereka, the Nyamwamba Division Local Council III Chairperson condemned the act of mob justice. He, however, reported that his elective area is currently being challenged by increased cases of theft and burglary, attributing the act to the presence of street kids and some people who are jobless in the area.

He has since implored the local council I Chairpersons to report to police some individuals they do not recognize in their areas of jurisdiction.
