Security in Kasese appeals to the general public to be vigilant

By Editor

Security in Kasese has appealed to the people who operate their businesses in some busy public places to be vigilant and report strange items that they come across.

The appeal was sounded today afternoon by the acting Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Ismail Kaawo while addressing the press about the security situation in the district at Kasese Central Police Station.

Kaawo, who said Kasese district, is calm and peaceful apart from a few theft cases and house breakings in the outskirts of Kasese Municipality and some villages in the lower local governments, however, asked the public to be vigilant since the country has had some cases of bomb explosions.

He also called upon the management committees of churches, market places and taxi parks to have some access controls, have functional security cameras and also install security lights to enable the operatives execute their duties.

The Security Officer also discouraged the people from keeping huge sums in their homes, arguing that they might attract some thieves.

Kaawo cautioned mobile money operators to be keen with the people that they transact business with, saying some bad elements target mobile money operators to falsely steal money from them.
