By Baluku Alex

One person is feared dead in Kisinga sub county, Kasese district after an alleged gold quarry collapsed on him.

Joel Mbusa Mukunguli, a resident of Kamughobe II village in Kisinga sub County together with three other teenagers reached the site that was established in the area in 2017 very healthy and ready to work as usual.

But one of the survivors, Brian Mumbere aged 15 told our reporter that at around 8am, part of the quarry started collapsing but Mukunguli told his colleagues to remain strong and continue working.

Mumbere says he became conscious for his life when he saw part of the quarry collapsing three times. He explains that at around 9am, a heavy loam soil collapsed forcing him and other four co-workers to climb quickly but Mukunguli who had gone at the extreme end was hit and buried by the debris.

Subsequently, the area leadership together with the joint security team arrived at the scene of crime and confirmed the incident.

Julius Mukeri, the Sub-county Chairperson told our reporter who had rushed to scene that following the magnitude of the incident, they failed to retrieve the body of Mukunguli and decided to seal off the scene waiting for more advanced means to remove the debris and search for the body.
