As it has been, the nine finalists in the 5th Edition of Miss Tourism Rwenzori Contest have turned up for their one-week boot camp at Shiloh Gardens Hotel in Kasese town.
The Miss Tourism Rwenzori Grand Finale which is slated for September 02, 2022, is among the main activities that will be done during the forthcoming Rwenzori Theluji (Snow) Festival that officially commenced on Saturday 27/08/2022 at the Rwenzori Square in Kasese town and will close on September 03, 2022 with an International Run.
Now, Queen Doreen Biira, the Brand Manager for Miss Tourism Rwenzori 2022 who also doubles as a Tourism Ambassador for the Year 2017/2018, explained that all the nine girls reported and started their one week boot camp at Shiloh Gardens in order to make them ready ahead of the grand finale.
According to Queen Biira, the boot camp is aimed at building the capacity of the contestants through a series of trainings in public speaking, catwalk and personal presentation among others.
She also revealed that the contestants have all come from the districts that make up the Rwenzori region with the host district of Kasese registering the highest number of contestants.
And these include; Sarah Kenyana Rusoke aged 22 and she is a 4th year Law student at Kampala International University.
Gloria Masika, a 25 year old, born from Bwera and graduate from Mountain of the Moon University with a Diploma in Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Management.
Anita Asinja, a 22 years old and proud Mukonzo from Bwera, Kasese district and she is pursuing a Diploma in Fashion and Design at YMCA University.
Kevin Kabugho aged 23 a born of Kasese in Bugoye sub-county in Busongora County North in Kasese district. She is a graduate from YMCA Comprehensive Institute with a Diploma in Journalism and Media studies.
Aldrine Asinja, a 22 years old, born in Mbunga Sub-county in Busongora County South in Kasese district and she’s a Senior Six leaver but currently working at Kiwa Heritage and Hot springs.
Daphine Kaija Kabugho aged 20 and born in Kasese district and a student of Kyambogo University pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management.
Loureene Masika is a 22 years old from Kasese district, pursuing a Diploma in Public Administration at Uganda Pentecostal University.
Joy Mbambu aged 23 and a born of Kasese currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Oil and Gas Management at Uganda Christian University.
And Jaiza Biira a 22 year old and a bon of Bundibugyo district, currently pursuing a Diploma in Accounting and Finance at Liberty College of Management and Journalism.
Queen Biira Doreen reported that voting the winner had already kicked off on the authorized social media platforms, however she clearly said that the one who will garner the highest votes on social media, will be crowned as the Miss Popularity not the final winner of the Miss Tourism Rwenzori.
According to Queen Biira, they will consider one to be the winner of the competition by questions and answer session.
Biira also put it categorically clear that the Miss Tourism Rwenzori Contest is aimed at marketing some Tourism activities in the Rwenzori region locally, nationally and at the international levels.
