Kasese residents’ worry over increased road accidents

Kasese: Residents of Kasese Municipality have expressed fears that the ever increasing accidents on the high way would finish the lives of the residents if not well addressed soon to curb the vice.

Consequently, they appealed to the Uganda Roads Authority-URA to come on board and conduct intense road safety clinics to educate all road users.

Mr. Ivan Isembusa, a resident of Kirembe Cell in Kasese Municipality, decried the ever rising road accidents caused by the car and motorcycle operators on the high way and in the entire district.

The concerned resident was speaking to our reporter shortly one person perished in a road accident that occurred along the Kasese Kikorongo Highway.

The deceased who was identified as Kasaija Muzigiti was riding on his Motorcycle before a Toyota Wish registration number UBG 303T knocked him dead. The motorcycle was damaged beyond recognition.

Eye witnesses at the scene blamed the incident on reckless driving and overspending by the car operator who they said was allegedly trying to overtake on a long another vehicle.

By press time the lifeless body of the deceased had been taken to Kilembe Mines Hospital for a postmortem and the driver was still on the run.
