Kasese ranked among the best in implementing Emyooga funds

Kasese District stands at 65 percent in terms of recovering Emyooga funds, the State Minister for Microfinance has revealed.

Haruna Kasolo, who is in the District on his monitoring programme made the revelation today Mpondwe Primary School in Mpondwe – Lhubiriha Town Council while addressing both the beneficiaries and the District Team.

The Minister said after receiving the performance reports from all categories of Emyooga beneficiary groups, he realized that Kasese was performing better in remitting the principal funds that were disbursed to the bank accounts of each benefiting group.

The Minister, however, observed that the district was still lagging behind in terms of savings.

He immediately directed the Community Development Officers not to sit in their offices but to go to the field and sensitize the masses about the need to increase their savings.

Minister Kasolo handed over a new brand motorcycle to Bukonzo West Boda – boda Riders’ SACCO for its excellent performance in implementing the Emyooga programme.

In her remarks, the Deputy Executive Director for the Microfinance Support Centre, Petronilla Hellen Masika said since Kasese district was performing better, they will organize more trainings to the Technical Staff as government plans to give more shillings 20 million to each of the category of the benefiting groups.

The District Chairperson, Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi appealed to the Civil Servants to also form saving groups in preparation for a possible retirement.
