Kasese District Chairperson orders for investigations of the construction works on Kyempara Health Center

BY OBED KITHENDE

The Kasese District Chairperson, Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi has directed the Rwenzori Anti- Corruption Coalition-RAC to investigate the construction works on Kyempara Health Centre in Isango sub-county and Nyakimasa Health centre in Bwera sub-county respectively.

According to Muhindi, government invested huge sums of money for the construction of the said health facilities. The health facilities should have been handed over to the district authorities in the last five year political term but up to now, they have never been handed and the contractors have since disappeared from the sites.

Muhindi sounded the directive on Thursday during an inception meeting that was organized by the Rwenzori Anti-Corruption Coalition at the district multi-purpose hall. The meeting was aimed at empowering the youth leaders across the district in monitoring and evaluating public projects in their respective areas.

The District Boss told the meeting that it would be paramount for everyone to join the campaign against corruption.  Muhindi also lashed at the some allegations that emanated out of the recently concluded aptitude tests where some people claimed that they were asked to pay shillings 150,000 so that they are made to go through.

He added that his leadership is currently investigating a staff who had camouflaged to be an agent of the District Public Service Commission and conned the applicants of their money in disguise of giving them jobs.

Misaki Byomuntura, the Project Coordinator for the Anti-Corruption Coalition, stressed that the organization had secured funds worth shillings 300 million to help in investigating cases related to corruption in the Rwenzori region.

We appreciate the LCV chairperson for his initiative to fighting corruption in the district which was a major problem that was portraying a very bad image in the district for many years.
