Fears engulf Kasese residents as one survives machete-wielding goons

Police in Kasese District has promised to tighten security in the district after a machete wielding goon attacked and cut a 52 years old man on Wednesday night at his home in Muhokya town council.

Abdallah Masereka, 52years, a resident of Muhokya town council who survived with severe cut wounds on head and a round body, his situation has put the residents in fear.

The Kasese Division police commander SSP Francis Kyesimira has promised that police in coordination with other security personnel will make a crackdown to hunt for the hooligans intending to destabilize peace in the night.

SSP Kyesimire addressing the pressĀ  during a community security meeting at Muhokya town council, said that machete goons are a problem country wide but their days are numbered.

“You know well what is going on in Masaka over these machete goons but I promise you soon these criminals are going to be brought in books and their intentions’ ‘, Kyesimire said.

His statements follow an incident in Kitoro cell of Muhokya town council in which a man was cut by an unknown machete wielding goon.

The DPC said they would intensify patrols involving village security personnel as investigation into the matter continued.

Matela Andrew, the area chairperson, confirmed the incident before describing the victim as a very polite man in the community wondering what the motive of the attacker could be.

Abdallah Masereka, who survived with cut wounds, narrated to our reporter that he was attacked during night around 8:30pm shortly after bathing as he rested on the bed waiting for dinner.

Cases of attacks by machete-wielding goons have made headlines in the recent past weeks in the greater Masaka, a situation that has left some people fleeing their homes for safety.
