Cristiano Ronaldo back at Manchester United

By Editor

SPORT– Not to be outdone by Lionel Messi’s big move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, the other global superstar in football is also making a move of his own.

Cristiano Ronaldo, erstwhile of Juventus, Real Madrid and Manchester United, is indeed returning to Manchester United.

The club confirmed it on Aug. 27.

“Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical.”

There was no additional information on the transfer fee to Juventus, if any, or the wage that Ronaldo could expect to earn at Old Trafford.

Rumours
Tongues began to wag when Ronaldo was left out of the starting eleven to face Udinese in Juventus’ first match of the season.

Juventus coach Max Allegri claimed that the decision had nothing to do with a transfer, and that it was just a way of easing players back in after the recent Euro 2020 tournament. Still, Ronaldo did come off the bench to make an appearance.

According to The Athletic, Ronaldo’s contract expires in the summer of 2022.

City’s move may have been a way for manager Pep Guardiola to solve his striker issues, having seen top marksman Sergio Aguero leave the club.

While Ronaldo did not start his career as a striker, he has scored 100 goals for Juventus and is known for his heading ability.

However, now he has joined Manchester United, apparently after a call from legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson
