Another person has been found dead in the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Kasese district.

Elijah Glet Bwambale, 18, a resident of Kikonzo village in the Railway Ward of the Central Division in Kasese Municipality disappeared from home on July 22. It is alleged that he was in a group of four people who left for fishing in the park.

Yesterday morning, a joint security team comprised of police, army and UWA officials together with the residents mounted a search for him in the park and later discovered him dead. The news of his death comes just a day after Miria Tumuhairwe; a resident of the same area was attacked and killed by an elephant in the park.

Enid Mbambu, the mother to the deceased says when she woke up on the day her son disappeared; she thought he had gone to play with his friends as usual.

Samson Kapamba, the Local Council I Chairperson for Kikonzo cell told our reporter that he feels shocked when he sees related cases happen in his elective area just in a spate of one day.

ASP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson says they will continue warning people to desist from illegally entering the park so as to save lives.

By press time, the body of the deceased had been taken to Kasese Municipal Health Centre III for postmortem.
