RUKUNGIRI-Archbishop of the Province of the Church of Uganda His Grace Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu is set to visit North Kigezi Diocese in Rukungiri District on a pastoral visit for the first time after the passing on of Rt Rev Benon Magezi.
Our reporter understood that the Archbishop who was in the diocese at the send off of fallen Bishop Magezi will step in the diocese for his pastoral visit on Monday September 27th 2021.
The Archbishop will on his visit meet all active clergy, the diocesan staff and later on visit the under construction home of Late Bishop Benon Magezi in Rubanga parish, Buyanja sub-county.
In Buyanja, Archbishop Kaziimba will hold a talk with fallen Bishop Magezi’s widow Gladyce to console her and share on how she’s fairing with life after husband’s death.
An inside source who preferred anonymity confided to this reporter that the Archbishop will as well hint on the process of electing a new Diocesan Bishop and discuss on ways of curbing down the storm that is seemingly hitting the diocese at Kinyasano hill.
There has been a wave of unfolding at the Diocese since June 30th when Bishop Magezi succumbed to COVID-19 at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala.
The days have seen the Diocesan treasurer being fired in what she says unfair treatment and our spies have it that she has already sought legal action and the Caretaker Bishop Emeritus Tugume Tusingwire has since been summoned.
In the same Spirit, the Caretaker Bishop recently trashed a letter from the office of the Provincial Secretary that ordered him to commence on the process of selecting a new Bishop.
The Caretaker Bishop openly noted that the Provincial Secretary has no powers of writing to him stressing that he would only accept to start the process if the letter came from the Archbishop.
We shall keep you posted with the details of the Archbishop’s visit.
