Thirty people from the National Resistance Movement and Forum for Democratic from Kigoro – Kasika village in Rukooki sub-county, Busongora County South in Kasese district have defected to the National Unity Platform –NUP.
The defectors were on Sunday received by the former Busongora County South Member of Parliament; Jackson Mbaju Kathika who advised them to work as a team as the only tool that could lead them to success in 2026.
Some of the defectors included Lawrence Mukimbwa, Harriet Biira, Justine Masika and Tanazio Muhindo among others from NRM and Yesresi Mbindule, Zeverio Muhindo and Elivanisa Biira from the FDC party among others.
The defectors told our reporter in an interview that they decided to cross to NUP because they have failed to get due services in their former political parties.
Ronald Masereka Bukombi one of the defectors told our reporter that he decided to cross because his former political party seems to be owned and controlled by one man in the district.
Moses Kule Ngangasi, the former District Councilor representing Rukoki and Nyakabingo sub-counties who was a member of the FDC was among the defectors. He told our reporter that he decided to cross because of the disorganization in his former party.
In his remarks, Kathika said he was set to mobilize the people to cross to NUP across the district. He also said he would form the party structures from grassroots level.
